New Sarah Jessica Parker Series Divorce Coming To HBO

It’s a huge understatement to say that Sarah Jessica Parker enjoyed some success on HBO with a half-hour comedy before. You might remember it as this little show called Sex and the City. So why not try it again?

Not more of that series, mind you, but another comedy. This is called Divorce, and Entertainment Weekly says it is heading to HBO. When? That’s a good question, as it is for many of the cable outlet’s series, but it is supposed to begin filming later this year.

Joining Parker will be Thomas Haden Church as her husband — or perhaps ex-husband, given the title of the series — while Talia Balsam and Molly Shannon play two of her friends. We’ll see if they can capture even some of the magic of her Sex and the City co-stars.

Interestingly, Divorce had been described as a TV movie before it was ordered to series, so HBO obviously sees some ongoing potential in it. This will be Parker’s first real commitment to a TV project since Sex and the City wrapped up in 2004, with most of her work since then appearing on the big screen. She’s sure to capture the attention of many curious fans for her return, so keep this one on your radar for 2016.
