The Golden Globes have announced their nominations, and HBO stands tall.

We’re coming up on award season, and that means we’re coming up on another chance for HBO to shine. The SAG nominations were announced yesterday, and HBO won its own award for home innovation. Basically, HBO is rolling in it and there’s no reason to think that it will change anytime soon.

Now The Golden Globes have announced their nominations for 2016. Of course, there are some overlap between the SAG’s and Golden Globes. Let’s go over the nominations:

  • Game of Thrones for Best Television Series
  • Silicon Valley for Best Musical or Comedy
  • Veep for Best Musical or Comedy
  • David Oyelowo for Nightingale in Best Actor in a Limited Series
  • Oscar Isaac for Show me a Hero in Best Actor in a Limited Series
  • Queen Latifah for Bessie in Best Actress in a Limited Series
  • Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep in Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy

Game of Thrones, Veep, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Queen Latifah all saw SAG nominations. The other four were not nominated, but at least they’ll get a shot here. It’s nice to see Silicon Valley get a nomination, but since it’s going up against Veep the odds are not great that it will score a win. All in all, however, there’s not that much general overlap.

Neither House of Cards nor Mad Men were nominated, and those two have been domination for some time. In their place, Narcos and Outlander have a chance at gold.

Next: The co-creator of Sherlock might not be back for more Game of Thrones.

Although HBO has been doing well with the award nominations so far, Netflix has more nominations at The Golden Globes with eight in total. The Golden Globes will air on January 10th.
