Curb Your Enthusiasm is set to return next year

The lesson of Curb Your Enthusiasm is pretty much that anything could happen, even if it doesn’t look all too likely.  After it was rumored that Larry David wanted to return to Curb Your Enthusiasm for season nine, everything just seemed to fall into place. A few days later HBO made the announcement, and that was that.

At the TCA press tour, which also brought us some disheartening news about Deadwood, Casey Bloys talked about the current state of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Turns out that there really isn’t all that much to talk about. Bloys “imagines” that the cast will return, but no deals have been made yet. Everything concerning about the cast is currently up the air.

More from HBO

The only thing that could actually be confirmed is the Curb Your Enthusiasm is set to return in 2017 and is currently being worked on. Next year sounds about right, but it still feels like so much about the project hasn’t been nailed down yet.  It’s a forgone conclusion that Larry David will return, but that’s about it.

Production is going to have to move quickly to make a premiere date of next year, though the end of the year is the most likely candidate. Throughout its previous eight seasons Curb has stuck to mostly being a fall show, though season eight premiered in July. Production will kick off in Fall, and that means all of the fine details have to be figured out before then. For now, it’s just nice to hear that things are moving along smoothly.

Next: Sesame Street walks back those earlier firings.

For now, all HBO really has to do is ride high on the original hype from the announcement. The bigger questions will come later, as will the details.
