Divorce, Westworld, and Insecure all Coming in October
HBO will kick off its big fall season this October
Despite sparring with some members off the press over violence during TCA, HBO under Casey Bloys feels like it’s in a good place. There are a lot of good shows to look forward to that will ease the pain of having to wait a little longer for the next season of Game of Thrones. For a long time we didn’t know when any of these shows were coming, but that recently changed.
Three of HBO’s most highly anticipated new shows will premiere in October. That includes Divorce, Westworld, and Insecure. Two comedies and a drama. Divorce and Insecure will both premiere on October 9th, while Westworld will arrive a little earlier, on the 2nd. Not too shabby. Divorce and Westworld specifically have been gestating for a while and there is quite a bit of hype surrounding them.

Going beyond that, Curb Your Enthusiasm will arrive next year as will a new comedy anthology from the Duplass Brothers. This is all great news and it could mean that HBO’s “off season” (the times in which Veep, Silicon Valley, and Game of Thrones are off) could actually be worth watching. A schedule is a balancing act, and HBO has always had trouble balancing its roster of shows.
Insecure is really the only unknown entity here; it is expected that both Westworld and Divorce will at least generate immediate interest. Either way, it’s going to be to an exciting fall for HBO, if only just because we’ll finally be able to see Westworld and hopefully understand what Evan Rachel Wood has been talking about.

Plus, by then, most people will likely have forgotten that Vinyl was even a thing. HBO could use some wins to wash away the taste of that particular defeat.
