The Night Of’s Ratings are Going Strong

HBO has announced The Night Of’s ratings

The Night Of isn’t the sort of show that looks like it would attract much ratings attention. It’s slow, dark, and requires a certain amount of patience. It’s also expertly crafted in almost every way — forgiving some of its recent story rumblings. HBO has announced The Night Of’s ratings in a press release, and they’re not half bad.

HBO is well-pleased to announce that the series has grown week over week and specifically cites a 25% increase last Sunday. All in all The Night Of has been able to snag at least 7 million viewers, which is good for this type of miniseries. Of course, HBO isn’t necessarily going to send out a release for bad news. Well, except for that time with Game of Thrones.

More from Show Snob

The Night Of’s ratings weren’t the only source of good news; Ballers and Vice Principals are both doing well. Vice Principals is at 5.4 million, less than The Night Of, but HBO is quick to point out that it’s higher than all seasons of Eastbound & Down. That’s still something.

HBO has something special on their hands with The Night Of, and it’s nice to know that viewers are sticking with it. It’s not exactly the easiest show to watch, though it does take care of that specific True Detective itch well enough. It’s had some issues in its second half, including an unfortunate revelation concerning Andrea’s step dad. Still, it proves to be an excellent show that features stunning cinematography work.

Next: HBO is brining their comedy game.

It will be interesting to see how The Night Of ends up performing at the Emmy’s next year, which could be its only shot. It’s technically a miniseries, though there could be more in the future if the story is right. There aren’t, however, any immediate plans to continue it.
