The Westworld site holds secrets

For those not so interested in the pot-stylings of High Maintenance, which premieres tonight, Westworld is less than a month away. HBO hasn’t wasted any time or opportunity in marketing the new sci-fi series, and has done a stunning job so far. The creativity that has gone into the marketing campaign is almost staggering.

The heart of it all is at Discover Westworld, a site disguised as a tool for promoting the actual West  world. Would you call it a an attraction planet? a theme world? Either way, Discover Westworld is where it’s all happening. The site previously hid away a new trailer — the most disturbing one yet. Besides giving information on the actual world of the series, it still holds secrets to uncover, such as the one that was tweeted out earlier today:

Entering the password in the upper right hand corner plays a promo video for the actual Westworld and promises “a world without consequences.” You can then take an “assessment” which asks questions like which finger you would be more comfortable losing. After all is said and done, you are notified that someone will be in touch.

Westworld, being a series about androids and technology, works well in the web medium. The site, which glitches in the background every so often, has an uneasy quality to it — just like the realities of Westworld undermine its seemingly perfect world. This is a series that could run for at least five seasons, and so far it has proven that it knows what it’s doing. Westworld will premiere on October 2nd, which now feels like much too long of a wait.
