What to Expect from HBO at New York Comic Con
New York Comic Con is right around the corner. Here is what to expect from HBO.
It’s fall, and that means it’s time for another New York Comic Con. Technically the second biggest Comic Con in the states, it still pales in comparison to what SDCC has going on. Still, there are some treats for HBO viewers this weekend, including Westworld’s first con experience.
There were, in the past, perfect opportunities for HBO to bring New York Comic Con friendly shows the event that just never made it. True Detective could have been a huge hit with the con crown, but Nic Pizzolatto is a private guy and so that never panned out. Game of Thrones has done smaller panels and showings at NYCC before, but this year will have a very minimal Game of Thrones presence.

Jack Gleeson, famous for playing Joffrey, will be on hand for autographs and his own panel. Unfortunately that’s it when it comes to Game of Thrones. Ian McShane will also be present, but to promote the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 2. The only other presence that HBO will have at NYCC will be a huge Westworld panel and screening of “Chestnut,” the second episode, hours before it will air on television. So that’s something.
Game of Thrones is expected to lay low for a while and may not even make an appearance at the next SDCC. Still, Westworld is a huge get for New York Comic Con. But as usual, NYCC will make due with whatever its given. Other shows from other networks will have their own panels, such as Starz’s Ash vs. the Evil Dead and a small showing from Netflix’s Stranger Things.

NYCC has never been the home for huge entertainment guests, though it does still try admirably. New York Comic Con will begin on Thursday, October, 6th, and run through Sunday, the 9th.
