Westworld’s Ratings Continue to Climb
Westworld’s ratings just keep on climbing. You are watching it, aren’t you?
A couple of months ago it came out that the producer’s of Westworld were planning for at least five seasons. That may have seemed like a case of counting chickens before they hatch, but Westworld is now well on the way to making that a reality. Not only is it a solid show that continues to grow, but it’s ratings have grown every week so far.
According to Deadline, Westworld’s ratings have climbed every week so far. Ratings today can be a tricky thing to track and understanding, as most models also include streaming and delayed viewing. I both cases the third episode, “The Stray,” was a winner, pulling in similar numbers to the premiere when taking streaming into account. That’s about 3.2 million, by the way.

HBO is a premium cable network, and as such they don’t need to rely solely on ratings like regular networks do. Shows that have been critically panned on network television can chug on for years if they have the ratings behind them. Still, it is a number that HBO looks at and considers, and it can cause early cancellations in some cases. Just check out Looking or Vinyl.
After three episodes, however, Westworld is not a critical powerhouse. It scores only a 74 on Metacritic, which is still quite good but isn’t amazon. The show has a lot of great ideas constantly flying around but there is still room to grow. With the ratings behind it and the good critical reception, Westworld really could be around for five years. That would be more than enough time for it to iron out the kinks and become more like Game of Thrones in the reviews department.
