Westworld season 1, episode 6 synopsis: The Adversary

Westworld makes the turn and heads for the back half of its first season with “The Adversary,” another episode with a title that could mean more than one thing.

HBO series have a way of flying by thanks to their shortened seasons. Westworld certainly feels like that, speeding past the halfway point with episode 6, “The Adversary.”

So much is happening now that it’s hard to keep track of it all. William and Dolores have left Logan behind, at least for now. Maeve has made her move, telling a technician that they need to talk. Robert Ford is pressing forward with whatever he has planned, content to let the Man in Black continue searching for The Maze.

Who knows what is happening when. If we really are seeing the past and present play out at the same time, it just adds to the intrigue.

The title of episode 6 could refer to Wyatt, the villain from Teddy’s new fake past who has caught the attention of the Man in Black. Or it could be whoever has been smuggling data out of Westworld.

You won’t find the answer in the official synopsis from HBO, but you’ll probably want to read it anyway:

"Lutz is charmed by Maeve; Elsie discovers evidence that could point to sabotage; the Man in Black and Teddy clash with a garrison."

We continue to root for Teddy here at HBO Binge, just because that poor guy has been through a lot. His emergency transfusion has him back on his feet and determined to find Dolores, who may or may not need saving depending on if the dual timeline theory turns out to be true.

The Maeve subplot is also intriguing. Though she’s had much less camera time than Dolores, she’s arguably much further along in discovering her true plight.

And Elsie, despite having some unlikable traits, could be onto something huge. You know what we’re going to say here: The only way to find out is to tune in this Sunday, November 6 at 9 p.m. Please visit us again after “The Adversary” for our full recap and much more Westworld coverage.
