Divorce’s next episode,’Christmas,’ Deals with Family fall out

The preview for ‘Christmas’ brings the family back together for the holidays, a totally un-stressful time of year.

To Divorce’s credit, the series has not yet devolved into the stereotypical angry divorce situation that is seen all too often. Another way to look at that would be to say that the actual proceedings are going slow, but that gives us more time to spend with Frances and Robert as they try to remove the chains that keep them together. It’s hard to do that when Christmas rolls around.

The next episode, simply titled ‘Christmas,’ finds the family having to pretend to be normal while with Frances’ grandparents.

Right off the back this seems to be Robert’s doing. Even though he went fishing the previous year, he is adamant that the family stick together this year. Robert has been a constant bright spot in the series, and that fortunately is not going to change. The estranged couple are forced to sleep in the same bed together and pretend to still be together for the sake of Frances’ parents. So, yeah, it’s going to be a good time.

It looks like ‘Christmas’ will be taking a bit of a break from the lawyer action to focus on the family. Frances and Robert have already started living separate lives, and it’s going to be interesting to see them have to try to make it work again — even if it’s all pretend. It will be quite the surprise if this little plan doesn’t end up blowing up in their faces.

Divorce has so far had more success by keeping the still married couple separate. Hopefully forcing them back together doesn’t derail the progress that the series has made so far.
