The Leftovers Travel to Australia in a new Teaser

This isn’t going to be a fun-filled trip

The third and final season of The Leftovers is fast approaching, and it’s going to bring some major changes. For one, the show is moving to Australia, a not so insignificant change of locale. The latest teaser emphasizes this by showing the gang packing their bags and getting on their way. There are also riots and worldwide floods, so that should be fun.

This is the second teaser that we’ve seen for The Leftovers season 3, though the first very much had the same tone. Neither trailer wants to give the impression that things are suddenly going to get easier for the Garvey clan and co., which is fair, since Damon Lindelof pretty much warned us. The Leftovers has one more season to redeem itself fin the eyes of the various award voters out there, thought we’re not going to hold our breath on that one. The show just doesn’t have the popularity for that sort of thing, even if it does now have the critical standing.

The idea behind moving the show was to take it to the end of the world, at least according to Lindelof. Whether or not Australia actually qualifies as that is up for debate, though it is a least a fair comparison to the New York town where it all started.

The only thing that we’re comfortable predicting in terms of where the final season is going is that people are going to have a bad time. That’s not really fair – all characters have a bad time on The Leftovers. Still, the series has remained exciting and unpredictable over the course of the previous two seasons, and we’re looking forward to more of that in season 3.

The final season of The Leftovers will premiere on April 16th at 10:30 PM EST.
