HBO Sets a Date for Bryan Cranston’s All The Way
HBO has announced the premiere date for their film based on the play, All The Way.
It’s easy to forget just how many films and miniseries HBO premiers during a year. The network is, for better and worse, primarily known for their original series. That wasn’t all the case, but then The Sopranos and The Wire happened and now where we are. Sometimes the network is able to offer up something incredible, like Olive Kitteridge, which won all the awards for what felt like two years.
HBO hopes to have anther winner on its hands with All The Way, a film based on the play of the same name. In it, Bryan Cranston plays president Lyndon B. Johnson and follows his first year in office.
Bradley Whitford also stars, a nice little throwback to his time on The West Wing, arguably the best American about politics in recent memory.

It probably won’t be quite this endearing.
All The Way will premiere on May 21st. For those who’s lives revolve around Game of Thrones, that is less than a month after the premiere of season six. HBO would likely prefer to be known as more than just the network behind Game of Thrones, but at this point they’d probably settle for it.
Promotional material for the new film features an almost unrecognizable Bryan Cranston in makeup for the role. He’s been on a bit of a biopic kick lately — Trumbo saw him as blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo. Unfortunately Trumbo didn’t get much love from award season, but Cranston himself was nominated.

If the film version of All The Way is as good as the theater version, expect to see it hanging around for a while. We’d settle for it being even half as good as Frost/Nixon.
