Could We See Past Actors on Game of Thrones?

Game of Thrones is treading lightly into flashbacks. Could we end up seeing Sean Bean again?

The sixth season of Game of Thrones has so far been trying to shake things up. By the way, spoiler warning.  Rickon is back for some reason that, so far, just seems like another way to drum up more Stark drama for Ramsay, and Allister Throne was executed for his part in the murder of the now zombie revived Jon Snow. Things are getting real.

Arguably the most exciting thing this season has been Bran’s visions, which have him traveling across time to witness various important scenes in history. Bran does not yet have the ability to travel himself, but instead is taken along by the man in the tree, at one time known as The Three Eyed Ravenor Greenseer.

More from HBO

The last episode showed up a long (expertly cast) Ned Stark, a character that we haven’t seen since his death at the end of the first season. The floodgates are now one for future flashbacks that could potentially bring back past actors, assuming said actors are up for a small returning role. It would be thrilling to see Sean Bean in Game of Thrones again, or Michelle Fairley as Catelyn Stark.

The series has just stating teasing the infamous Tower of Joy scene, which will undoubtedly play out later in the season. From there, anything is possible. Sean Bean has stated that he’s keen on returning, though has also denied that he is in season six. We’ve been lied to about Jon Snow, so everything must be taken with a grain of salt.

Next: Anthony Mackie was on The Late Late Show.

Even if actors don’t end up returning, we could see some exciting scenes — anyone else want to see Jamie actually kill The Mad King? That major action has been talked about endlessly for years, so actually seeing it would be quite a treat. Even though not all of season six is working out just yet, the possibilities of Bran’s visions help to keep it fresh.
