Curb Your Enthusiasm is Coming Back! At some point

It was a funny little thing when HBO confirmed that Curb Your Enthusiasm would be returning for a ninth season. It felt like it was far from a sure thing. Now that it’s happening, we’re entered the fun period of waiting until it actually appears. And there are no guarantees at all that it will be anytime soon.

While it was originally airing, Curb Your Enthusiasm was one of the reasons to have HBO in the first place. There have been other comedies to make a solid case for a subscription, such as Veep, but Larry David will always hold a special place in people’s hearts. HBO has already announced the comedies that will be coming this fall, and Curb Your Enthusiasm wasn’t on the list. Nor will it be.

More from HBO

The announcement of Curb Your Enthusiasm’s ninth season was mainly one to build hype. As far as we, or anyone else really knows, no work has already been done. Larry David decided that he wanted to return to the show, and everything else now has to be worked out. That alone could easily push the ninth season into 2018 territory, or later. If it does take longer than that, expect to see headlines such as “Is Curb Your Enthusiasm really happening?”

It makes sense that HBO would be happy to quickly announce the show’s return, due to, if nothing else, its prestige status. But that doesn’t mean it’s coming anytime soon. HBO could have waited until the details were worked out, and maybe in time fans will wish that they had.

Still, Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming back. The finer details are not yet so important. HBO could surprise everyone and announce a 2017 premiere, but unless there is much more that we don’t already know, that’s not exactly likely.
